Where are the butterfly pea flowers grown?

We partnered with U.S.-based Lifetime Tea to source, blend and package Waking Wonder’s teas. They are committed to sourcing ingredients that are healthy for both people and planet which was a key reason for selecting them as a partner. The butterfly pea flowers are grown on a small farm in Northern Thailand and are fair trade and organic compliant according to European Union standards but are not currently Certified Organic (since this is a very expensive process for small farmers). Our other ingredients are from various regions of the world and we source certified organic ingredients whenever possible.

 

Tell me more about the butterfly pea flowers…

Butterfly pea flowers are a key ingredient in our teas and are what create the natural, vibrant blue color. Native to Southeast Asia, butterfly pea flowers have a deep blue hue and their pH balance changes when something acidic is added such as lemon juice, resulting in a “magical” change of color from blue to purple to pink. For centuries, these flowers have been used not only for their beautiful color, but also because of the many health benefits that this flower is believed to provide, including antioxidants that aid in improved memory and eyesight.

 

Will there be other products?
We launched in fall of 2019 with our sampler tea gift set featuring our three flavors of butterfly pea flower tea. Based on customer feedback, we intend to offer larger sizes of each of the flavors as well as expand our product offerings in the coming year.

 

Our Packaging

How is the tea packaged?

We spent a lot of time researching the packaging and assessing various options that would be both environmentally sustainable and provide the experience of opening a gift. We selected foil lined paper canisters with individual compostable tea sachets. We chose not to use strings and tags and applied single labels across each canister to minimize packaging and ensure freshness. In addition, we wanted the shipping box to be as streamlined as possible while still being able to serve as a gift box should you want to put a bow on it and share some wonder with friends and family. The size of the sampler tea gift set box is approximately 5”x7”x2” and the canisters are 2”x5” and each canister includes 4 pyramid tea sachets.

What is Waking Wonder’s commitment to philanthropy?

We started our company to both inspire wonder and to make a difference in the world. We have committed to giving 10% of our net profits annually to support economic opportunity and entrepreneurship for women globally. As women entrepreneurs, we know how powerful it is to have your own business and create your own livelihood. Shipping

How is the tea shipped and how long will it take to arrive?

We provide free standard shipping within the United States. Once you place your order, our fulfillment center identifies the best carrier (USPS, UPS, DHL, FedEx) based on your location. Once your package has been shipped, you will receive an e-mail letting you know it’s on the way with a link to a tracking number so you can track its progress. We currently only offer standard shipping which typically takes 4-7 business days* (if you order your tea on a weekend or U.S. federal holiday, the order will be processed on the next business day).

*Please note that these are only estimated shipment times and cannot be guaranteed since weather and other factors can cause delays. If you are purchasing this as a gift, we generally recommend placing your order at least ten days in advance of when you want to receive it.

Do you ship internationally?

We only ship within the United States right now.

 

Refunds

Is it possible to get a refund if I’m not happy with my purchase?

While we believe you will be thrilled with your tea purchase, we offer a money-back guarantee on any product within 30 days from the date of purchase. Simply e-mail us at support@wakingwonder.com with the product description and date of purchase, and we’ll send you information about sending back the remaining product and receiving a refund.
