In 2018, Jeanette had a cup of butterfly pea flower tea while traveling in Sri Lanka and couldn’t believe she hadn’t heard of this beautiful tea before. She watched as the tea “magically” changed from vibrant blue to purple when she added lemon. Everyone at the table was captivated. For Jeanette, it also sparked an entrepreneurial journey.

 

Jeanette had been a lawyer for most of her career but was trying to figure out what was next. She never imagined she would start a company, but she couldn’t stop thinking about the tea. On a call with her friend Jen, she described the experience of wonder and how it seemed rare these days. It became clear in that conversation that the company was really about inspiring wonder, and tea was just the beginning.   

 

Our story is about taking risks and following an idea that we thought was both far-fetched and really important. We started this company to inspire wonder every day, while also supporting women’s empowerment and entrepreneurship programs globally. Waking Wonder launched in 2019 and we’re grateful to everyone who has joined us on the adventure.
